Joint IMM Program - EU Delegation visit
to BHRT

On April 9, the EU Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, represented by Ferdinand Koenig, Danijel Kovačević, and Sanja Hamidović, together with Marc-André Schmachtel (Head of the Cultural Department at the Goethe-Institut Athens), Georgia Trimspioti (Regional Team Leader at the Goethe-Institut Athens), and Simone Voigt (Director of the Goethe-Institut Sarajevo), visited the Radio - Television of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHRT) and Radio and Television of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (RTVFBiH).

This visit was an opportunity to meet with the General Director of BHRT, Belmin Karamehmedović and his team. BHRT received a grant award for the project “Life of Minorities,” aimed at introducing new technologies, strengthening its online presence, and training staff to enhance documentary programming—particularly focusing on women, youth, the elderly, and minority communities.
The main discussions during the visit focused on the challenges that public service media face today in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and how programs like "Innovation. Media. Minds.: Support to Public Service Journalism in the Western Balkans" are crucial for the future of public service media in BiH.
During the visit to BHRT, representatives of Goethe-Institut also attended celebration of 80 Year of Radio-Television Bosnia and Herezegovina and there was opportunity to meet with representatives of Public service media from Western Balkan, Radio -Television of Montenegro, Radio Television of Kosovo and Radio-Television of North Macedonia.

Managed by the Goethe-Institut, on behalf of the European Commission and in collaboration with its implementing partner DW Akademie, the EU-funded "Innovation. Media. Minds: EU Support to Public Service Journalism in the Western Balkans" continues to play a crucial role in supporting the Western Balkans' journey towards European integration, demonstrating the power of strategic funding in transforming public service media.
