Bridging Technology and Creativity: My Vizrt Training Story from Belgrade
By Alen Pavić, Head of Graphics Department, BHRT
For the past 20 years, I have had the privilege of contributing to the Radio and Television of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHRT), where I currently lead the Graphics Department. My journey in media production has been rich with experiences in graphics, visual effects and television production. The significant milestone in my professional development was a recent opportunity to participate in a specialized Vizrt software training in Belgrade, as part of my mobility grant within the EU’s Innovation. Media. Minds Program: Support to Public Service Journalism in Western Balkans. Acquiring expertise in this software is not only positioning me among a select few professionals in our region with such specialized knowledge, but it will allow me to contribute even more effectively to the development and modernization of production processes at BHRT.
Elevating Production Quality with Vizrt
The training, held from December 8–14, 2024, was more than just a professional development course—it was an immersive experience that equipped me with advanced skills in one of the media industry’s most powerful tools. Vizrt software plays a crucial role in modern television production, enabling advanced video content processing, dynamic visual effects, and real-time workflow optimization. The knowledge and skills I gained will not only enhance my contributions at BHRT, but also help shape the future of our production processes.
Learning by Doing: Practical Experience at DigiTV
A standout aspect of this training was the hands-on experience at DigiTV’s production environment. Working directly on creating graphics and dynamic content management provided me with practical insights into real-world applications of Vizrt. The experience emphasized the importance of seamless coordination between different production sectors, which is crucial for effective software integration. Moreover, engaging with experts from News Max Balkan Service introduced me to the latest trends and practices in the industry—insights that I am eager to bring back to BHRT.
A Transformative Impact on BHRT
The impact of this training extends far beyond personal growth. By mastering Vizrt, I am now equipped to enhance BHRT’s production processes, elevate the quality of our graphics and video content, and optimize workflows. My immediate goal is to improve the visual identity of our programs and boost our capabilities in live production and real-time graphics management. Additionally, sharing this knowledge with my colleagues will create a ripple effect, building a stronger, more skilled graphics team within our organization.
Looking Ahead: Building on a Strong Foundation
This experience has not only enriched my skill set but also reinforced my commitment to ongoing learning and innovation. I look forward to applying what I’ve learned, exploring new creative possibilities, and contributing to BHRT’s evolution as a leader in quality journalism and media production in the Western Balkans.
