Results of the second call for
regional co-production grants
New co-production grant
awarded under “IΜΜ” Program
Radio and Television of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Radio and Television of Vojvodina will co-produce a new cross-border documentary with support from the EU-funded “Innovation.Media.Minds” program, reinforcing the role of public service broadcasters as trusted media in the Western Balkans.
The EU-funded program Innovation.Media.Minds, implemented by the Goethe-Institut in close cooperation with DW Akademie, is pleased to announce the results of the second open call for regional co-production grants for public service media in the Western Balkans. This grant initiative supports regional cooperation among public service broadcasters, enabling them to co-produce high-quality content on topics of shared interest. By fostering joint productions, the initiative not only strengthens professional collaboration across borders but also reinforces the role of public service media as credible, relevant, and trusted sources of information and culture in the region.
The awarded project under this call is an ambitious collaboration between Radio and Television of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (RTVFBiH), as lead applicant, and Radio and Television of Vojvodina (RTV), as project partner.
Their joint educational and documentary initiative, Warriors at the Edge of the Empire, will explore the region’s ancient cultural heritage through the lens of military artifacts—primarily helmets—from the Illyrian to late Roman periods. Anchored around the remarkably preserved late Antique helmets from Berkasovo and Jarak, the series will examine the function, symbolism, and craftsmanship of warrior equipment, while highlighting the cultural exchange and shared heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.
Combining expert interviews, 3D reconstructions, and on-site filming at archaeological sites such as Berkasovo and Daorson, the project will connect past and present in a way that is accessible to broad audiences. It will be broadcast on public television and digital platforms and complemented by educational materials, ensuring wide public engagement and long-term impact.
The project will begin in October 2025 and run for eight months. The total grant awarded to RTVFBiH and RTV is €25,000.
By enabling projects like this, the “Innovation.Media.Minds” program is helping public service media in the Western Balkans to deliver engaging and culturally significant content, strengthen cross-border collaboration, and reaffirm their role as institutions serving the public interest. This initiative once again demonstrates the transformative impact of EU support in promoting resilient, trusted, and future-oriented public service media across the region.
Managed by the Goethe-Institut, on behalf of the European Commission and in collaboration with its implementing partner DW Akademie, the EU-funded "Innovation. Media. Minds: EU Support to Public Service Journalism in the Western Balkans" continues to play a crucial role in supporting the Western Balkans' journey towards European integration, demonstrating the power of strategic funding in transforming public service media.
