The Goethe-Institut Boston offers internships to undergraduate students (junior/senior year), graduate students, or recently graduated students.* Interns receive insight into the work of an organization such as the Goethe-Institut, participate in the planning and implementation of cultural programs, and take on tasks in public relations/social media, and German educational outreach departments. Requirements
The following are required in order to qualify for consideration for an internship at the Goethe-Institut Boston:- Excellent German language proficiency and/or German citizenship
- good sense of the modern German culture scene (desired)
- Interest in educational policy/pedagogical issues
- Willingness to work together with students of different age groups
- Readiness to work independently/execute routine tasks
- Excellent Computer Skills
- completed (or on track to complete) university degree in the humanities, linguistics, arts, social sciences, or related degree field at the Bachelor's or Master's level
- For those without American citizenship: a valid visa. We currently work with Cultural Vistas to secure visas for interns coming from abroad. *In order to acquire a visa for an internship, interns must either currently be enrolled in a course of study or no more than 12 months post-graduation at the start date of the internship program.

Participation in:
- Assisting with organisational preparation and execution of the cultural programming in various areas of literature, visual arts/installations, film & media, theatre and music
- Program coordination, preparation and execution of events
- Preparation of Marketing materials for events and programs
- Communicate with and support our guest artists and speakers
- Translation of texts
- Research current areas of focus
- Participation in the area of Public Relations
- Editing of press releases or texts for the website
- Creation of marketing materials (ex. Flyers)
- Mitarbeit in der Informations- und Kommunikationsabteilung
- Pflege von Website
- Erstellen von Social Media Beiträgen
- Mitarbeit am wöchentlichen Newsletter
- Sammeln und bereitstellen von Veranstaltungsfotos
- Erfahrung mit Adobe Creative Cloud vorteilhaft aber nicht zwingend notwendig
- Bereitschaft zu unregelmäßigen Arbeitszeiten bei Veranstaltungen am Wochenende oder abends
- Hohes interkulturelles Verständnis und Kompetenz
The internship in the Public Relations and Educational Outreach department offers the complete experience of working at the Goethe-Institut Bosotn:
- Participation in Social Media/Public Relations
- Draft eye-catching Social Media posts (Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn - in English), that present our work and mission in a creative way
- Write compelling and informative captions for Social Media as well as for Newsletters, to engage with our target audiences
- Design and edit visually appealing content (images and video) in Canva
- Follow Social Media trends and assist with the implementation of social media strategy
- Partiipation in the "Bildungskooperation Deutsch" program (Educational Outreach and Professional Development)
- Support the planning of professional development activities and the development of teaching materials
- Visit schools/universities in New England as necessary (transportation provided) and participate in school visits at the Goethe-Institut as well as other events for language learners
- Support the language department on testing days at the Goethe-Institut
- Participate in event planning and administrative tasks
- Plan and host events for language learners (Game Nights, Conversation Hour, etc.) which may take place during evenings or weekends.
- Experience with Excel, Word and Canva (or the ability to learn these programs quickly)
- Assist with common administrative tasks, as needed
- High level of intercultural understanding and competence
- Collaborative work style and outgoing personality
