In response to the pressing challenges of climate change and environmental degradation, particularly felt in urban areas across Europe,
LOCALY proposes an innovative approach to empower young people to address local environmental issues while acquiring essential skills for their future. With 75% of the European population residing in towns and cities, the possibility for youth-led solutions is significant. Recognizing the role of youth organizations in engaging young people, LOCALY aims to fill the gap by providing hands-on methodologies and tools, specifically designed for non-formal education, aligned with the Green Competences Reference Framework.

LOCALY's approach emphasizes experiential learning, enabling young people to explore their interests and talents while developing environmental knowledge and competences. By supporting youth-led environmental projects within the communities, LOCALY fosters active citizenship and enhances transversal skills, crucial for both personal and professional growth. Through reflection and sharing of experiences, LOCALY maximizes learning outcomes and promotes long-term civic engagement.
The project targets three main groups: youth organizations, youth workers 18 and above, and young people, aged between 13 to 17. By directly involving these stakeholders, LOCALY aims to create a multiplier effect, reaching a broader audience across Europe. The project not only addresses the immediate need for environmental action but also contributes to the broader goals of international cooperation, skill development, and fostering European values among young people.
